Picking up the Activity

I'm trying to bust through a plateau so I've been picking up my activity level more. Lately, my husband and I have begun taking walks throughout our town averaging about 3 miles per walk. Thankfully, my city has lovely Greenways throughout it so we get to enjoy nice walks in the shade while enjoying the awesome East TN scenery! The one near our house even hooks up to one of the many parks in our area so we can stop and let the kiddos play a while before we head on back! I'm still kickin' butt with my Turbo Jam!

Still Here!

Wow, I haven't posted in a long time! I do have some good news to report. Since my last post, I've lost about 13 pounds just from eating healthy and being active! My husband has lost over 40 pounds and has completed P90X and now is almost over with Insanity! Not sure what he will do next, but I'm thinking it might be Insanity the Asylum. ;)

I plan on updating more frequently from now on so stay tuned!

What I Ate Today

I decided that I might occasionally do a blog post about what I ate in one day. So here goes!

I have 29 daily points to use and I can dip into my 49 Weekly Points (WP). Today I used one of my WP.

Breakfast (total 4 pointsplus):
1 scoop Chocolate Shakeology (3 pointsplus)
1 cup Organic SoDelicious Unsweetened Coconut Milk (1 pointsplus)

Lunch (total 12 pointsplus):
1 can of Amy's Organic Bean & Pasta soup (7 pointsplus)

Dinner (total 6 pointsplus):
1 Mission tortilla (4 pointsplus)
2 tablespoons Yogurt Feta dressing (2 pointsplus)
cherry tomatoes & lettuce (0 pointsplus)

honeydew, watermelon, cantaloupe (0 pointsplus)

Snacks Throughout the Day (total 8 pointsplus):
vegan marshmallow treat (3 pointsplus)

Joined Weight Watchers

A local Weight Watchers center has an open house on Thursdays where you can come in and join or weigh-in anytime without going to a meeting. I decided since I cannot go on this upcoming Saturday (which will be my official weigh-in day) because M has his Army drill, that I would go today and sign up. My mom is also re-joining this weekend so we will be able to support each other.

Based on my personal stats, I am allotted 29 points per day based on their new PointsPlus plan. The new PointsPlus plan assigns foods points based on their carbs, fiber, fat and protein. The old plan only used calories, fat and fiber. Under the new plan, all fruits are 0 points and most vegetables are too!

I additionally have 49 Weekly Points to use for splurges. This will help me from feeling restricted. You can use some here and there or you can use all at once if you have something like a party or wedding. You can also earn Activity Points by doing exercises- anything from running, walking, kickboxing or even playing with your kids.

I picked up a PointsPlus calculator, a Dining Out Companion guide and a Complete Food Companion guide. I am considering signing up for the online e-tools, but I may hold off until I finally get a smartphone. I am looking forward to using the mobile app to help track on the go!

I am confident that combining my awesome Beachbody workouts and using Weight Watchers as a tool to make better eating choices, that I will be successful in my weightloss journey!

Losing Weight While on Vacation

We recently went out of town for 2 weeks over the holidays. My husband and I both brought our Beachbody workout DVDs (me- Turbo Jam, him- P90X) and I think we did pretty good considering the hectic schedule.

I have found myself having a hard time getting back in the swing of things now that I am home. I have only done one workout since being home whereas I normally workout 6 days a week.

And I still have to work on my eating. I am 99% sure that I will be joining Weight Watchers to aid me in this process. A local center has an open house tomorrow and they are currently waiving the start-up costs. I have tried it twice before online but I fizzle out. I think attending a center for weigh-ins and meetings will be more motivating for me.

How did you do over the holidays?
